History Of MCOP


The Master Classics of Poker is a much anticipated event and it has returned to the Netherlands this month.

The destination is Holland Casino Amsterdam as usual. There are several exciting events that are lined up this year, especially as it is the 25th edition of this annual event. The festival includes a buy in main event in MCOP. There is a long tradition behind the poker festival, which has been held in the Netherlands every year.

The event started off from 1992. This is the 25th edition that is being held for which there is much emphasis this year and a star gathering is coming about in Holland Casino Amsterdam. There would be several actions based events. The Main Event has already started off and there has been record participation on Days 1a and 1b. Many star players are participating and are looking forward to proceeding to Day 2 and finals after that. As participation is open for registration till Day 2, much action is taking place at this hallowed casino in the Netherlands.

The Main event is the program that takes the cake, which offers a title win to the champion of the event. Usually home soil players are found to participate and be successful in the event. For the last four years, this is a trend that has been coming about at this event. Ruben Visser is a poker pro who won the Main Event last year. David Boyaciyan also won the top prize in 2011 that is also from the Netherlands. There are usually around three hundred players in the Main Event though the participation remains high in other programs as well such as no limit hold’em. There are different kinds of tournament formats that are usually played, including the MCOP High Roller Re Entry which is usually held towards the end of the event. The satellite events allow one to join up for the Main Event at nominal cost compared to visiting the venue and signing up for participation.
